Japanese Garden Gate Construction Begins

DSCN0016On Friday Sept 25 Jay van Arsdale (left), wood working artist, and Bill Castellon (right), president of Friends of the Japanese Garden, met in the garden to finalize plans for the first section of fence to be replaced. The work, which will be done as a result of the grant from the Creative Work Fund, has already started. The material for the first phase of the job has been ordered. Much of the work will be done by Jay’s students at Laney College. They have already started practicing some of the joints that will be used for this project.
