GOLDEN GATE AUDUBON SOCIETY LEADS FREE LAKE MERRITT BIRD WALKS

Lake Merritt and Lakeside Park, one of the country’s first Wildlife Refuges, is an ideal spot to experience the fall migration of numerous birds.

Join with Golden Gate Audubon Field Trip leaders Hilary Powers and Ruth Tobey in spotting many special birds such as the Barrow’s Goldeneye above. The waterbird migration will continue through December.

These Golden Gate Audubon Field Trips will begin at 9:30 and end at 12:00pm.
The Bird Walk Schedule is:
September 28, 2011
October 26, 2011
November 23, 2011
December 28, 2011

Directions: Enter Lakeside Park off Grand Ave. onto Bellevue (near Children’s Fairyland) and purchase a $2 parking pass. The boathouse lot is a good parking option. By bus, take the 12, N, or NL bus to Grand and Perkins, and walk into the Park at Perkins. The Bird Walks will begin at the large spherical cage near the Nature Center at Perkins and Bellevue at 9:30 am.
